Summer Camping

Over Labor day we went camping with the Mangum crew. We left on Friday evening and headed to Enterprise where the rest of the family had set up camp. Our trip felt doomed from the start. We left later than planned, having to stop at our storage and then the store. We had to sit in traffic and then after thinking that we had passed all the traffic there was an accident which cause more traffic and waiting. Then of course there were plenty of potty breaks for Kaleb which made Avery upset because she didn't get out too. So she tried to tell us she had to go potty too in order to get out of her chair, poor thing! Then Avery who would not eat anything and only wanted milk threw-up all over herself. So once again we were delayed. We had to clean her up, find clothes, change her and get going again. Finally the kids were asleep and we were on our way. As we pulled into town it started to rain. Then as we pulled into the campsite it was pouring buckets. Our tent was already set up all we had to do was transfer kids and get ourselves in the tent too. I was not too sure about it. I wanted to go to a hotel, too bad there were none nearby. But we got in the tent just fine and the kids did not even wake-up. The rain soon let up and we thought we were in the clear. But at about 4am it started again and this time there was thunder and lightning. I was terrified. It was so close. I am not sure what you do in a situation like that but we each held a kid (both of who did not wake up) on the air mattress and prayed that we would be safe. And we were. The morning was beautiful. It was a great day to be camping. We were happy to be there even after all that! Kevin and his brother went on a drive on the 4-wheelers. When they came back we found out that Kevin went up a steep hill and ended up jumping off just in time since the 4-wheeler rolled down the hill. He could have been badly hurt. He was being watched over that is for sure. After that things went great. We had a good time, the kids loved playing and going on rides on the 4-wheelers. Avery especially loved the rides and threw many tantrums because no one was taking her for a ride. On our last ride we found two small areas with fresh water on the road. We had a blast going through them with the kids. It ended up being a great trip!

Oh and Kaleb caught his first fish. He was excited!

Here are the Barlow and us, dirty, tired and ready to head home!
