Water Bug Party

We celebrated Kaleb's birthday with friends this weekend. He was so excited to have his friends come to his house and play with his toys! He was also excited that it was a birthday celebration because that means there is cake or cupcakes in this case!

Since it was a record 83 degrees here in Portland we decided to have some water fun! We set up the kid pool, water table and "sprinkle" (as K calls it). The sprinkler was a bit stronger than we thought and ended up getting everyone within 20 feet wet, but the kids thought it was great! Kaleb even let out his new found girlish scream as he ran through it!

When it was time to sing happy birthday, Kaleb got really embarrassed. He told me later that he did not like the singing but I think he was a bit overwhelmed and embarrassed and did not know how to express that emotion. So as we began to sing he covered his face and then laid on the ground to hide. I picked him up. He blew the candles out and then began to cry. Again I think it was an embarrassed reaction. Poor kids was so excited earlier in the day and all the people and attention was just too much!

There was also a bug pinata! Kaleb and I made the pinata on Friday and did an okay job. We did not do three layers since we ran out of drying time but it made it hard to hand it up without tearing it. Next time it will be even better! The kids all loved it and everyone got a turn before Jacob gave it a big hit and all the candy fell out at once!

Here are some of our friends!
Becca
Jackson
Cohen
Here is Holly and William. Lucie and Jacob were there too but far too busy for me to get them in a picture! Also there but very busy were Ben, AJ, McKenna and Licoln. We are sure going to miss them all when we move away!

We love having Kaleb in our family he is full of energy, often silly and makes me smile everyday!
At Three Kaleb is...
- Playing worker all day long, this includes mowing the lawn, painting, cutting down trees and anything else he can think of,
- Makes up silly words like "saca noodle" and thinks it is so funny,
- Will sing or talk to his sister in a sweet voice when she is upset,
- Likes to use the potty all on his own,
- Wears cowboy boots all the time, even when he is playing worker in the house with just underwear on,
- And brings so much joy to us, we are proud parents!
