After the hike we went the other direction and spent the afternoon on the beach. It was strange to be on a beach that there was no one else. I guess the cool weather and ice cold water kept others away. We ate lunch and then played in the sand, watched the waves, listened to the water and smelled the salty air. Kaleb loved to dig holes, eat sand, jump down hills and collect rocks.
My Favorite Day
We had a blast the whole time in the Redwoods but this was my favorite. Maybe because it was different scenery or because had so much fun or maybe it was just because I got to relax. We took the 8 mile dirt road to hike a Fern Canyon. It is a canyon that had a good size stream running down it and then into the ocean. The high walls are filled with ferns and other greenery. Of course there is water everywhere, there was no use in trying to stay dry. We maneuvered our way up the canyon, over logs and through shin deep water. I loved it! It reminded me of Havasupai (not the falls but the hike to them). Even Kaleb loved the hike and loved trowing rocks and seeing them splash in the water.

Okay What a fun trip, I love-love the last picture of Mr. K. sitting in the dirt. :) Seriously you need to blow that picture up and frame it-it doesn't get any cuter than that lil man's smile! :)
