Summer, Off to a Great Start!

Ahhh what a great weekend we had! It was perfect. Outdoor fun, family, friends, food and lots of sunshine! The summer is off to a great start! It was so nice to have Kevin home and relaxing after a week filled with tests. By they way he is doing great in school and leaning all sorts of really interesting things, seriously it has been fun to hear about them!

Back to our weekend. We decided to explore some of the hikes that are just down the street. Saturday we climbed Angels Rest. It was a harder hike than we anticipated (uphill the whole way) but it was worth it in the end. The view from the top is amazing, you can see across the river into Washington, down into Portland and green everywhere. Kaleb did good in the backpack but we realized the limit is about 2 hours. When we got to the top I was nervous to get him out but we found a bench and a flat area to let him stretch his legs (while we held his arm). Going down was nice but you can definitely feel it in you knees. Oh and lucky for us no one broke into our car while we were away since we forgot to lock it, oops!

Sunday was a normal Sunday except for the fact that Kevin was not dreading the weekend being over, yeah for Memorial Day!

Monday was jam packed. We started the day off by taking a smaller hike to Wahclella Falls with a bunch of our friends. It was a short hike with an amazing waterfall at the end. All the kids loved throwing rocks and Kaleb kept bolting for the water. He was determined to get in but ended up having fun just picking up rocks with his buddy! Kevin loved taking pictures and learning a few new picture taking tricks!

After the hike we had a few errands to run and Kaleb slept a lot (3+ hour nap), I think he is going through a growth spurt.

Kevin was determined to have a BBQ so he planned a get together at the church field and pavilion. It was going be a small group of the usual crowd but apparently word spread and there were at least 12 families there. We played a little Frisbee, ate yummy tin foil dinners and peach cobbler, talked with friends and loved being outside! I am sure we will do that again.

Then to finish the day the girls had a little gathering to watch the Bachelorette. Since it was Julie's birthday (Sunday) we decided to surprise her. She is such a busy mom that it was fun to have a little celebration just for her. Happy Birthday Julie!

Wow, what a great weekend, even if Tuesday morning came too early!
